Currently drooling over this Curried Ostrich Burger with Sweet Potato Relish

Not sure how will it taste like ... either way I want to eat it. didn't know that I can find ground ostrich at Whole Foods, will def. look for it next time, scratch that ... tomorrow!

hum, back to main topic: Sweet Potato, actually the main reason I stumbled upon the ostrich burger.

As many knows me personally knows I have mood swings, don't get me wrong, i'm not the crazy bitchy kind, just sometimes get little mad at people or things for no reason (I'm the last person to win any fights), I know I know, I always do feel really really bad afterwards and always try to find ways to makeup for our mishaps. I noticed these *head dizziness* usually happens during early morning, around noon (before lunch or got stuck in a long meeting without food), and or any other time I go for a long period without food -- Low blood sugar. For years I've kept my pocket stuffed with chocolate or candy, but these are even better at messing up my blood sugars.

Back in college I wanted to stay size 2, ended up fainting twice in a week *sigh, the hard knock life*. My mom always jokes if our family ever becomes poor I'd be the first to die of hunger, for years my blood sugar has been the headline joke among family and friends (mostly involves that I've forgotten to take my "pills"), ha, I'm used to 'em jokes, have the perfect excuse of blaming everything on my head dizzy low food in take: sorry I was mad at you for no reason because I didn't eat any food, how can I make it up to you. *well at least i'm honest about it, can't blame a girl for trying to be nice*

What does my above story have to do with Sweet Potato? EVERYTHING! I wanted to tell you my situation so you can see how important this next thing will affect my life, recently I read this article online:

Though they may taste as sweet as candy, sweet potatoes have a positive effect on blood sugar. With high concentrations of fiber, complex carbohydrates and carotenoids, they help stabilize blood sugar levels. Because they also lower insulin resistance, they are thought to have anti-diabetic properties. The substantial fiber content lowers the risk of cancer and heart disease as well.

Now addicted, it does magic to my dizziness, today I worked from morning till 10pm, all feud on nothing but baked sweet potatoes (got too busy to cook) and my blood sugar couldn't be better, even when I didn't eat that much but worked loads I didn't have the usual head dizziness, certainly no fainting. I think I can clearly say that this will be the top veg. in my food chain.

If next time you find yourself getting mad at others for no reason, chew on some sweet potatoes. Now back to that ostrich burger, yum I think I'll dream about it tonight!

Thoughts on Diesel's new campaign

Think Apple? I wonder if Diesel's new "Be Stupid" campaign took some inspiration from "Here's to the crazy ones..."

There has been alot of rants on how Diesel are promoting nudity and stupidity in their new campaign called "Be Stupid" (either those people has never opened a high fashion mag *cough* W *cough* Vouge *cough* or not frequenting Diesel much?). The way I look at it, fashion is art, art is nudity, I didn't spent years in fashion school drawing cute stuffed animals. Art are meant to be extravagant to make boldness of the tiresome everyday routine, to accept it, it's completely up to you. Apple or pear -- everyone has their own favorites.

Personally I've always liked Diesel, well... more so back in my fashion school days (when I actually ate nothing to fit into those pair of damn good looking jeans), yes they run stupid campaigns, yes they are extremely weird  -- then again, I never like to settle for normal, i'm also a little bold, a bit stupid and a whole lot weird -- man that's how I like 'em.

Simplify my life, simplify my bank accounts first

I've had my Citizens Bank account for little over a year now, I have not yet for once find the bank and it's staff to be any of use, these are just my experiences others might have better reviews. What I say is true, happened to me personally and might never in a million years happen to you so don't base on your judgements on a single blog post.

Call me paranoid, but after reading some news on Bank of Am. I had been splitting my personal and business bank accounts apart, my only regret -- got lazily and picked this bank from across the street, called Citizens bank (I'd never like to look at color green again). I only wanted to open a business account but came out with six accounts. The bank signed me up for both a personal and business account (it's the only way they can offer me a business account) -- in the personal account there is checking, savings + money market and I haven't count the business side.

I wasn't happy with this setup, with these many accounts money are scattered everywhere, how can that in anyone's right mind be any benefit to me?! month after month I asked the manager if I can close the whole or parts of personal accounts, because I do have other bank for managing personal cash flow, 'oh no, that's how we operate.'  -- Fine, call me a sucker i'll put up with more account and bank cards than I ever needed (and people were wonder about why banks crush), let me say it again I was never happy with the set up, not to mention their statements and online banking is the worst, I even had managers tell me they can not give me a free statement -- a fee has to be charged! -- for what? your ink toner? As for online banking, for some reason a few month ago they decided to switch from mastercard to visa thus locked all of my bank accounts offline, I went to the local manger, contacted by phone, then went back to the local manger all just to simply reset up my online banking again (I'm excellent when it comes to tech. and I can say it's ridiculous how they make me visit the local branch on the littlest tech issues, like to reset my password, as if 3hrs on the phone wasn't enough). Till that time I should have close down the account, but it was a week later.

Funny the bank clerk actually reminded me that I need to get out of this bank. I was making a deposit of $2k at the window, a new clerk looked confused, ask which checking accounts I'm depositing to, "personal" I said (it's the only way, then I have to logon at home to transfer to business, can't believe I have to put up with this), why not deposit directly to business? Last time I got schooled by the clerk that they can only deposit to my personal account, since I don't want to start the argument everytime during deposit I just suck up and let them do their thing. This new clerk then looked up asked in a short anger tone "well I have two PERSONAL checking accounts which one do you want to deposit to, one has $x and the other has $x which account?" A bit upset, I mean how can a bank not understand how to deposit people's money, I replied a bit harshly (I know it's not her fault, sorry) "that's a ridiculous question to ask, I should only have one personal checking account, the other must be business checking you work for this bank you should know this by now.", "well how much you have in your business checking so I can confirm the accounts" she then replied, the heck I know, luckly I knew something like this would happen and had my personal check book with me, here is where the story got funny, I took out the check book, showed her the account number and told her "I want the money deposited to this account" ... wait ... wait ... wait ... she called two other people (no introduction who those two were) all crowed over to her screen and point all over the screen at my account (I guess my privacy didn't matter that much), they could be floor sweepers for all I know. Finally in an unpleasant tone, she said "Fine give me the check I'll just deposit it to this account, either way the accounts are all yours ... and next time you should make it clear which account you want to make the deposit"

Em, wait a sec. did I mention I didn't want all the other junk accounts in the first place? now a bank clerk tells me my accounts are too confusing even for her?! that's the last string i was hanging on, now I got the confirmation. Forget about the deposit, got my check back went directly to the manager and closed ALL of the accounts to rid of all account related issues.

Went for a walk to Citibank, lay down the rules -- "I'll not open such accounts as personal checking, saving or any other junk you will force me to open." "I only want a Business account, here are the money I want to deposit, either make it work or I'll just stay with Bank of Am for both personal and business." Tho the manager at first did express that inorder to open a business account I do need a personal account, but after I lay down what I wanted (after all don't forget I'm the customer and they are the service provider), a short phone call to the higher up, a business account it is, not baggages attached, now my money flow couldn't be more smoother.

Also I don't know if anyone here ever had the chance of comparing citibank's banking slip (the receipt you get back after deposit or other transaction ) to citizens Bank or Bank of Am.'s ... growing up in New York our family always had CitiBank accounts, sometimes I even think my frustrating with other banks might be because citi had me spoiled rotten. Now back to Citi I remembered why it was our family's trusted bank in the first place, even small gestures such as deposit/banking slips are designed to make sure you never get confused what's where, every time you make a deposit a detailed summary lays out where everything is, no more wondering and guessing. It makes me chuckle that after I closed my account with Citizens Bank, the manager gives me a bank slip/receipt of $135 along with an envelop of cash (more than $135) --- I wanted to ask what the heck does this slip of $135 proof (he didn't tell me, shouldn't that be his job to explain?), which account did he get the total sum of $135? but to save some breath I just counted my actual money and left, I honestly think if I had asked he will charge me for a statement. Sigh, I'll run when I can.

One thing I recently discovered about life: simplify, simplify and simplify. By simplify I don't mean closing all my bank accounts and dig a hole somewhere in the woods to store cash, no by simplify I mean to have everything clean and clear, if it's a bank then I need my statements to be clear, each time I make a deposit I get a good understandable summery (not some half banked version), a solid online banking where I don't have to take time and visiting the bank, where the clerks actually knows what they are doing, explains to me where the money went to (not the other way around) .... that way I worry less about tasks other people are paid to do and in return that simplifies my life.

Next agenda ... close flickr account because I don't ever use yahoo email why open so many accounts just so I can upload photos online, there are many new services that doesn't require such actions and i'll switch my business to them.

10 things I love about you

2 hours on a shooting results in -- a broken camera, even cried last night after the camera stopped working, this baby has been with me for three years, that's three years of laughter and joy we shared together, now my baby is gone, I'm pretty sure the Canon service center will charge me 200 bucks and replace me a new camera body, sigh, I guess that's life, all of us will eventually and luckly grow old -- my Canon just went a little faster than expected.

I'll certainly miss you very much, here are 10 things I loved about you:

1) I love the way the shutter clicks
2) I love that you are strong, even on your last breath you didn't fail me during the shooting.
3) The years of eating on the go certainly developed a coat of delicious aroma on you and I love that familiarity.
4) I love that you capture beautiful photos, you made my job easy, made me look 'talented'.
5) The long scars left when I dropped you last November, even tho everyone in the restaurant thought I was a bit crazy -- keep saying sorry to a camera -- I didn't care, I was really sorry to drop you and the scar reminded me everyday to handle you with care.
6) I love your dull worn out buttons, because it showed me how hard we had worked together and kept me going, worked harder.
7) I loved our time hiking together, I know we were both disappointed -- till now we haven't saw a sight of any rare bird, fox or moose, I kept saying one day, guess that's not enough now.
8) I love to see you sleeping safely in your little compartment in the camera bag.
9) The straps ... well, actually the straps will find home on the new body.
Finally, I even love the annoying little popup flash on you, and nobody ever likes those on camera flash lights.

Also, I'm so grateful and very blessed for my baby to fail at the right time, any sooner I wouldn't be able to shoot a night full of beautifully planned event, any later I would miss out capturing culture-shocking images of my oversea trip -- just think how would I get my Canon serviced then.

Oh by the way last month I purchased a Sony Cybershot W290 (funny how the force of nature always has it's ways to take care of one and other), till my new DSLR body arrives I'll be playing with this one. Never a big Sony fan but for point and shoots I don't mind Sony that much, this model has 12.1 mega pixels, Canons on the other hand are always conservative with pixel size even with their pro model. So far the Sony is holding up pretty well -- not a super slim casing but I care more about mega pixels (about the thickness of two iphones) so for me if it fits in the handbag and back pocket it's good, a bit pesky that I can not control some of the functions, but then again that's the whole meaning of point and shoot right? the camera suppose to shoot in HD stills + video, the battery is on the short side, online reviews are either extremely left or right (I guess it all depends on what you plan to use it for), I'm not going to detail review this camera, as it is just a fun side gadget no means it will be used for professional photography -- if it's just for fun, there's no point to fuss over it, no? overall a decent clicker ... speaking of clickers, I wanted to make buckets of money, yes that much, wallets or pockets can't contain, load 'em bucket full, and purchase everything Leica, from point and shoots to the new M9, oh my, have you seem it's lenses, magnificent!

this makes me want to have a wedding, seriously

What would make me the happiest on my wedding day? --- a simple & low key wedding, where I won't feel nervous or scared (I believe I'd be most likely to run away from a wedding than the guys), also I don't like to be pretentious so I'd only invite people who I truly care about and who truly cares about me (if that means only my mother, then I wouldn't mind that at all). I'd discourage big talks or unrealistic hopes about our future, after all, tomorrow, life will go on as it is, there shouldn't be any let downs, only gradual improvements to make our lives together better. I hate paying bills, no matter what people think, I don't want an expensive wedding where I or my family have to pay afterwards, letterpressed cards out, email invite it is. Don't expect me to slave over my own wedding: no seat assignment no rsvp, come as you please. A 'special designed themes' from me the designer is out of the question, I'd rather spend my energy and time with my man. As for themes -- simple, airy, somewhere near the water (symbol for a good fortune), lots of tulips -- classic, strong, everlasting and effortless beauty. Just one party - the wedding, with simple decoration, lovely people, lots big plates of good good comfort food and sweet bright laughters.

I saw these wedding photos online, oh my, someone has to be my style soulmate, this really fits my vision, I love the color scheme, the simplicity (a bit lack of food, but I believe that's for photography purposes -- heehee wouldn't look good if everyone were pigging out, right?! ), been an April girl -- even the tulips are my most fav. flower, also a guilty pleasure: love love the faux fur coat, I do have a faux fur addiction so this bridal look fits the bill.

Side Note: on the last photo, where the couple are dancing, what the heck are the two people to the side doing? blowing petals? does anyone else find it a bit extreme? I wonder if that's hired labor or just eager to help party guests -- either way it's better than throwing other stuffs at the couple.

Taking time off the virtual world

Hi all, I'll be taking time off the virtual world, out to explore the real world.

... that doesn't mean I'm leaving the net forever, will def. start a new blog later just to keep personal thoughts up to date -- continue to follow me on twitter i'll be posting updates and new blog url there.

Someone asked me why am I throwing years of page views and followers away, my answer simply: I'm not! -- it's all about experience, all these years I gain alot of experiences in online social networking, by stepping away for a while it helps to view things from a different perspective, when I come back online, I'm not someone that's just started to blog or just joined twitter, my start date might appear fresh then, but I had already gained all the experience, made all the mistakes, where someone just start out would take years to catch up. That said, I've made up my mind and that's all that to it.

Signing off from the blogosphere for now.

See you some time soon!

ps: this site will be down in the next few days.

Simple and delicious email from Momofuku

I'm a huge fan of Momofuku's milkbar (was there on the open day), today I received an marketing email from them -- sometime this weekend they are opening an online shop -- ship to anywhere in the U.S ... holly jolly S*** ... my annual dieting plan just went out the window -- chocolate! I'm sad they won't ship pork buns -- oh I'm absolutely cuckoo for them.

On that note one sweets only reserved for the brave: Candy Bar Pie -- Last time I had it the sugar rush was so high I stayed awake for two days straight, sounds like the perfect thing for marathon runners or developers who has to work over night :D

EVA airway

EVA Airways, a Taiwan based airlines, was the one that wanted to pay tribute to Hello Kitty with an entire plane. In October 2005, EVA launched a campaign together with Sanrio to create the “Hello Kitty Jet”. They painted the exterior of an Airbus A330-200 and another aircraft followed one year later, with both the interior and the exterior having the Hello Kitty motif ... via  Airline Post

I like the food shown in photo, would def. travel on kitty air for the sparkling water + salmon ... sushi?! Here is another idea, how about sushi air for the sushi lovers ...
